This beautiful unframed watercolour by Glasgow artist, Jenny Hunter, is titled Purple Gladioli and Hydrangea. It is 41x30cm. Please message me for a framing quote.
I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1990 with a BA hons in Fine Art Drawing and Painting.
After graduating I exhibited in the ‘New Talent’ exhibitions in the 369 Gallery in Edinburgh.
I have received various awards over the years to support the development of my work and exhibit widely across Scotland and in London.
I have been a member of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists since 2018 and have exhibited in all of their shows including the Maclaurin Art Gallery and the Smith Institute in Stirling.
Drawing is enormously important to me and underpins all my work. I enjoy using negative space in my drawings leaving room for interpretation. This can be seen prominently in my recent street drawings of Glasgow and my flower watercolour paintings.
"I love using colour, and especially enjoy contrasting tones such as rain loaded skies in Scottish landscapes. My favourite mediums are oils and watercolours. Paint can be applied loosely but accurately and the colours are intense and natural.
In 2021 I received a grant from Creative Scotland to develop my work and have enjoyed working outdoors, drawing on street corners, to capture the life of Glasgow. I look forward to continuing my artistic development in 2022."
